Royal visit to the port
On the occasion of the 25 years anniversary tour of HMK Harald V and Queen Sonja, the royal family has visited Norwegian cities. Kristiansand was their last stop..
Before arriving Kristiansand, the royal family had visited Tromsø, Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger. The royal ship “Norge” arrived Kilden Performing Arts Centre at 11.00 AM. Mayor of Kristiansand Harald Furre, County Governor Stein A. Ytterdahl, Chief of Police Kirsten Lindeberg, and Port Director Halvard Aglen, maintained the tradition saying their positions should welcome the royal guests.
Thereafter the royal family was taken on a walk. The purpose was to present regional performances. At Kilden, the choir Sølvstrupene performed excerpts of Kjetil Bjørnstads new musical taking on the story of Terje Vigen. At Fiskebrygga, Bragdøya Kystlag presented old boats.
Among other cultural presentations, the royal family visited a local market with food from local suppliers. The walk ended at Tresse, where hundreds of locals had gathered.
The royal visit will end with a mid summer party at Myren Gård. 300 guests from the entire region will attend.
